Cortney Simmons
Licensed Master Social Worker
About Cortney
Cortney believes that therapy is a collaborative journey where clinicians and clients walk together as fellow travelers. She offers a warm and grounded presence, rooted in the understanding that every individual possesses the inherent capacity for profound change. Cortney’s approach is deeply holistic, recognizing that our well-being is often shaped by the broader social and systemic contexts we inhabit. She helps clients navigate these external pressures, honoring our deep interconnectedness and the belief that personal healing can create waves of change, not only within ourselves but within the world around us.
Drawing on an extensive background in mindfulness, yoga, and meditation, Cortney incorporates breathwork and mindfulness-based approaches to help clients bridge the connection between mind and body. Her therapeutic style is warm and inclusive, informed by a diverse professional background, from serving as a Youth Development Volunteer in the Peace Corps in Botswana to working within the New York City school system. These experiences allow her to bring a global perspective and a deep commitment to supporting the whole person within their unique environment.
Cortney earned her Master of Social Work from New York University’s Silver School of Social Work and holds an undergraduate degree in Sociology from Syracuse University. Her prior experience in the fast-paced technology sector provides her with a unique perspective on the importance of fostering sustainable work-life balance in today’s world.
Originally from midcoast Maine, Cortney’s values are deeply rooted in the resilience and community of her upbringing. Outside of her professional life, Cortney loves to travel. She’s also a certified scuba diver, and finds joy and mindfulness in the ocean.
