Understanding Anxiety

Your Space to Reset

Anxiety, stress, and overwhelm all point to the same underlying pattern, where your nervous system has learned to stay in a state of chronic activation, constantly scanning for threats and preparing for what is next, even when no immediate danger is present.

This hypervigilance shows up differently for everyone, whether as rumination, emotional dysregulation, a persistent sense of dread, or somatic symptoms like a tight chest, a racing heart, or disrupted sleep. These are not signs that something is wrong with you. They are adaptive responses that once made sense, and therapy is where you begin to understand them rather than fight against them.

Together we explore the core beliefs and emotional patterns keeping your threat response activated, while building the regulatory skills that help your nervous system settle. Over time, you develop greater self-awareness, psychological flexibility, and a genuine sense of ease that does not have to be earned or managed.

The goal is not to stop feeling. The goal is to transform your relationship with it.

When You Are Ready for Change

You might feel like your mind never fully turns off. Thoughts looping, decisions feeling harder than they should, or a constant sense that something needs your attention.

Stress can build quietly over time. What starts as pressure can turn into overwhelm, where even small things feel harder to manage. You may find yourself second guessing, or feeling like you can never relax.

For some, it shows up as racing thoughts or difficulty sleeping. For others, it is tension in the body, irritability, or the feeling of always being “on.” Even when things look fine from the outside, it can feel very different internally.

You may be used to pushing through, staying productive, or holding everything together. But over time, that can become exhausting.

Therapy is a space to step out of that cycle, understand what is driving it, and begin to move through your life with more clarity, intention, and ease.

Why Private Pay?

Why We Don’t Take Insurance

  • Insurance requires a mental health diagnosis before they’ll cover a session, and that diagnosis becomes part of your permanent medical record. We don’t think you should need a label to get support.

  • No diagnosis code, no session notes, nothing about what you’re working through gets sent to a third party.

  • Insurance decides how often you can meet and sometimes which therapist you’re allowed to see. Private pay means it’s you and your therapist deciding what you need, for as long as you need it.

  • Therapists who bill insurance often carry thirty or more clients to make the math work. Ours don’t. That’s part of how we’re able to respond quickly and be available when something comes up between sessions.

We provide a superbill for every session so you can submit for out-of-network reimbursement if your plan offers it.

One exception: we’re in-network with Wellfleet Student Insurance, available only to NYU students. If that’s your plan, your sessions may be covered directly rather than through a superbill.

Sessions are conversational but intentional. We explore what is coming up for you, look at patterns over time, and introduce tools that help you feel more grounded and in control. Some sessions are reflective, others are more action oriented. Each session is 50 minutes.
