Understanding Depression
Everyone experiences degrees of sadness, but clinical depression is a mood disorder that hangs around like a persistent black cloud. It can be painful and draining, and your thoughts may be bleak, toxic and hyper-critical. The vibrancy in your life is replaced with a monochrome malaise that envelopes your world. You may feel lonely or empty, yet it seems preferable to stay in bed and pull the covers above your head.

How Does Depression Present?
Depression symptoms present differently, but you may be experiencing a feeling of ongoing sadness or emptiness. You may no longer find pleasure in things that you used to enjoy, such as hobbies, socializing, or spending time with loved ones. A change in energy levels, weight, appetite, concentration or sleep may also reflect the presence of a depressive episode. You may also have feelings of low self-worth, self-harm or suicidality.
